The Fram made four important expeditions in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, its most famous being when its crew, led by Roald Amundsen, beat Captain Robert Scott to reach the South Pole for the first time.
For this journey, the vessel had been altered and improved and a major innovation has been credited with giving The Fram what she needed to reach the speed required to beat Scott. Its original steam engine was replaced by a ground-breaking diesel polar motor.
We worked Sarner International to convey the complexity and significance of this motor for the Fram Museum.
